Once upon a time, three artists found themselves together in a quiet, dark theater. They had been brought there by a fairy godfather who told them: Your magic powers will be even greater if you work together. (This might be a slightly loose interpretation.)
The result is 'Neck of the Woods' — directed by the Scottish artist Douglas Gordon, and featuring the British actress Charlotte Rampling and the French pianist Hélène Grimaud — which will have its premiere at the Manchester International Festival on Friday night.
